Spark (Legends of the Shifters Book 1)

For more than a decade, Ivy Oliver has lived in a dark, crumbling orphanage where she was sent after her parents’ death. Her only hope for a life of simplicity and happiness is the trial, a test that frees her second form from where it’s been buried since her birth.

That hope is dashed, however, when she transforms into a creature that rips her away from the only friends she’s ever had and ensures that her enemies are numerous. She is dragged unwillingly to a school that will discipline her in the ways of survival and defense. There, she makes both friend and foe. She discovers things she never knew about her past and her future. This tiny, insignificant girl is faced with a crushing destiny that might be too staggering for her to bear. She will have to abandon her shy, quiet demeanor and take on a fearless spirit if she wants to survive.

Ta`Mara Hanscom

I was born and raised in South Dakota, and I love her people and rich history. For many years I’ve also had a deep love for Italy and her colorful chronology. I was fortunate enough to visit Italy on my 25th wedding anniversary, and I added some of the details of my travels to my fictional series The Caselli Family Series.

My favorite sport is baseball – Detroit Tigers – and I can’t wait until the next time I get to see them play in Comerica Park.

I live for the next family barbeque.

My husband and I reside in Northwestern Iowa. We have three grown children and one grandson. We’ve rescued two cats and one Pomeranian.

I teach AWANA Cubbies and speak at women’s events.

Andrew Peterson

Hey, folks. If you're just discovering me or any of my work, it can be a little confusing because there are several facets to it. Here's the rundown:

* I write songs. I also record them to these cool things called CDs and put on concerts around the country. (And beyond! To my great delight, I get to play in Europe every year or so.)

* I write books. I've just completed a four-book fantasy series for young readers called the Wingfeather Saga. I also drew some of the pictures (but not the awesome ones). (WingfeatherSaga.com)

* I'm the proprietor of the Rabbit Room, a community of songwriters, authors, and artists interested in storytelling, faith, and fellowship. We have a yearly conference called Hutchmoot, which is as strange and wonderful as it sounds. (RabbitRoom.com)

* I've been married for twenty-one years to Jamie, and we have three sweet children: Aedan (17), Asher (16), and Skye (13). We live in a magical place we call the Warren, just south of Nashville.

The common thread in all this is my love for Christ and his Kingdom, my belief in the power of story and art, and my need for family and community. If I had to boil it all down, I'd say this: I want to use my gifts to tell the truth, and to tell it as beautifully as I can.

That ought to get you started. For a more in-depth look at what I do, visit Andrew-Peterson.com. Thanks!

I'll talk to God About That~Spotlight

When I'm face-to-face with a huge giraffe,
And his neck's as long as a shepherd's staff,
I can feel the fear, but I'll choose to laugh.
And I'll talk to God about that.
Teaching little ones to pray when they feel a bit fearful is easy with this lighthearted, picture book by award-winning author Dandi Daley Mackall and talented illustrator Janet Samuel. Written in rhyme from a child's point of view, this sweet story portrays children experiencing several worrisome situations--alone in the dark or doing something new--and courageously declaring, "I'll talk to God about that."

Rush Revere and the Presidency

Join Rush Revere on another action-packed journey! Rush and his friends head back in time to the early days of our independent nation to watch the early American presidents George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson in action!

Hey there, young readers! Rush Revere here. I can’t wait to rush, rush, rush to history with our next adventure: a trip back in time to the first days of our country on its own two legs, free from British rule—

What’s that, Liberty?

Liberty wants me to say on its own four legs.

Anyway, as I was saying—free from British rule and creating a new government for the people, by the people. When one of the time-traveling crew from Manchester Middle School decides to run for student-body president, I take them back to meet our first three presidents and first ladies.

So, join us as we head back to those amazing and important first years, when we got to make all the decisions. Turns out, it’s pretty hard to lead a whole new country! We had to make new rules for America and set the path for the country we would grow up to be. And who better to be our first-ever leader than the general who won the war—George Washington!

He was the father of our country and made some incredible decisions that still affect how we live our lives today! But even so, President Washington knew that he couldn’t stay president forever or we might end up with a king, just like England.

We’ll watch as he makes his tough decision to step down to spend more time with Martha Washington and his adopted grandchildren, Nelly and Wash.

Then we’ll saddle up and ride into the presidency of John Adams, who followed in some very big footsteps with the help of his accomplished wife, Abigail. Then we’ll rush, rush, rush to the year 1803, when Thomas Jefferson continues the mission of creating America by making a risky decision to buy a lot of land from the French in the Louisiana Purchase, which more than doubles our size!

Using advice from the early presidents, first ladies, and a former U.S. congressman, the crew works to defeat an old nemesis. The question is— will it be enough?

What are you waiting for? Bring your curiosity and let’s giddyup!
