A Soldier's Promise

Ryker was raised in foster care group home, and never gained the softer skills a family would have given him. Upon graduation he joined the military, providing him structure, meaning and a great career of which he could be proud. After twelve years he has a life he is comfortable within, a team that he would die to protect and little else in his solitary existence. Unfortunately, all that changes when one of his team doesn’t make it out of the latest covert operation and Ryker is made to keep a promise that will take him on a trip toward everything he always claimed he didn’t want.

Darby is the all-American girl that her fiancĂ© left behind to serve on a covert military team. She is busy working toward her goals when the first letter is delivered by impersonal military personnel ending her dreams of the marriage she had planned since high school. The next three envelopes will be from members of her fiancĂ©’s team, all making good on a promise they made him. One of those letters will bring the loner Ryker to her doorstep for one surprising month.

Signed book contest! Enter to win!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I’m Norma Elliot. I know what you’re thinking; who names their kid Norma nowadays? I feel the same as you. I’m a ginger―that means red-head. Actually, my hair isn’t red; it’s orange, but I guess red-head sounds better than orange-head. First, because it rhymes, and second, someone may get confused and think that my head is an actual orange. I’m ten years old and sharp―what my dad calls me―that means smart, not pointy.

My story is about what I did during the winter season―no brainer. The title gave that away. It’s mostly about me learning life lessons and spending time with God, when I write to Him in my secret journal.

Oh, I need to mention, I’m not perfect; definitely not. Thought I’d warn you, just in case you’re expecting to read a story about some cute little angel type girl. If you were, you might want to find a different story to read. But if you’re up for a story about a girl who’s a work in progress―what dad says our old house is―you may just like mine. I really hope you do.
Anyway, bye for now.

Twelve-year-old MacIntyre McGeehee or Mac for short didn’t realize that he would become entangled in a mystery after his family moved from ...
