Victory feels elusive, as if God intends it for everyone but you. But God is never absent. He is as involved in your life today as he was when he protected Queen Esther and the Jewish nation from annihilation, and he will bring victory. In this 11-session study of the life of Queen Esther, you'll discover: God is actively moving in every situation including yours. His protection of his children is unwavering and constant. Jill Holler
grew up on a farm in western Illinois, enjoying a life of running free through the pastures during the day and gazing at the countless shimmering stars at night. All around her, she could see the work of God's creative hand, and she knew He was real. Yet it wasn’t until years later that she would discover the abundant life of faith that comes from taking hold of the living power that resides in God and His word. After struggling to find purpose and meaning for much of her young adult life, she found that it resides simply--yet powerfully--in Jesus Christ, her God and Savior.
Earning a master’s degree in English and being a college writing instructor prepared her for writing her first devotional book. But most of all, it was simply the prompting of God and a growing desire to know Him more that led her to write Life in His Hands: A Call to Godly Surrender and Purposeful Living. The devotions in this book are words to her very own soul, yet ones that ring deep with meaning in the hearts of other believers seeking God above all else.

Heart of Mercy

Mercy Evans has known a great deal of heartache and hardship in her twenty-six years. Yet Mercy never doubts the presence and provision of her heavenly Father. When a house fire claims the lives of her two best friends, leaving their two young sons as orphans, Mercy offers to be their guardian. It seems simple enough, until the judge mandates that the boys be placed with a married couple. Samuel Connors is a man adrift. Despite the success of the blacksmith business he inherited from his father, he senses a void unaffected by material rewards. His mother keeps nagging him to find a wife, but the only woman who comes to mind is Mercy Evans. What would she want to do with the man whose father is now serving a life sentence for the murder of hers? Mercy is determined to do whatever it takes to win custody of the Watson boys. But marry a mortal enemy of the Evans family? God alone can give her the heart to go through with it.
Born and raised in west Michigan, Sharlene MacLaren attended Spring Arbor University. Upon graduating with an education degree in 1971, she taught second grade for two years then accepted an invitation to travel internationally for a year with a singing ensemble. In 1975, she married her childhood sweetheart. Together they raised two lovely, wonderful daughters, both of whom are now happily married and enjoying their own families. Retired in 2003 from 31-years of teaching, "Shar" loves to read, sing, travel, and spend time with her family, in particular, her wonderful, adorable grandchildren!
A Christian for 45+ years, and a lover of the English language, Shar has always enjoyed dabbling in writing--poetry, fiction, various essays, and freelancing for periodicals and newspapers. Her favored genre, however, has always been romance. She remembers well the short stories she wrote in high school and watching them circulate from girl to girl during government and civics classes. "Psst," someone would whisper from two rows over, and always with the teacher's back to the class, "Pass me the next page."
In recent years, Shar felt God's call upon her heart to take her writing pleasures a step further and in 2006 signed a contract for her first faith-based novel; thereby, launching her writing career with Through Every Storm. With a dozen books now gracing store shelves nationwide, she daily gives God all the praise and glory for her accomplishments.

Shar has done numerous countrywide book-signings, television and radio appearances, and countless interviews. She loves to speak for women's organizations, libraries, church groups, women's retreats, and banquets. She is involved in Apples of Gold, a mentoring program for young wives and/or mothers, and is active in her church as well as two weekly Bible studies. No Safe Haven

Tillie Pierce is a thoughtful, fifteen-year-old young woman, living with her family in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It’s 1863, and the Civil War is touching every town and home with tragedy. Tillie’s is no exception.
She has two brothers fighting in the war, but she receives news that it’s her sister’s sweetheart who has died defending his country against Confederate forces. This shatters Tillie’s faith—she finds it impossible to believe that God, in all of his sovereignty, would allow such horrors to take place.
What Tillie doesn’t know is this is only the beginning, as the Battle of Gettysburg is just around the corner. The Confederate Army arrives three days ahead of the Union soldiers, and they loot, steal, and enslave African American citizens.
Tillie’s parents, devout Christians and staunch abolitionists, encourage her to pray for her enemies, but she can’t speak to a god who won’t stop the war. Where is Christ in all of this? Will Tillie and her family survive the bloody conflict, and will she ever find her faith again?
No Safe Haven is a deeply personal account of a young woman’s struggles through the greatest conflict her country, and her heart, will ever see.
Angela Moody
is a native Vermonter who lives two doors down from the house where she grew up. Angela likes to say that she's gone far in life. Angela doesn't remember a time when she wasn't telling stories. Before she learned to read, she would look at picture books and tell herself stories based on what the pictures suggested to her. In first grade, she won a silver star for a story about a boy and his pony.
Throughout her childhood, Angela was a voracious reader. Her favorite authors were John Steinbeck, Stephen King, Anya Seton, John Jakes, as well as Laura Ingalls Wilder and Louisa May Alcott. Angela would say her biggest influences in her choice of writing were John Jakes and Anya Seton.
Angela received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1985 from Trinity College of Vermont - now part of the University of Vermont. Angela still lives in Vermont with her husband, Jim, and her two cats. Their children live nearby.
She has been writing historical fiction for more than twenty years. In recent years, Angela has turned to writing from a Christian worldview. She hopes her readers, who may have had very little exposure to the Gospel, will feel moved to discover the Bible.
No Safe Haven is her debut novel. Angela is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers.
